Tips for Better Spring Photography Sessions

Now that your winter hibernation is over, it is time to head outside and enjoy the nice spring weather. Getting cabin fever during the winter is normal and wanting to go out and enjoy the beauty of the new life that spring brings to us, is normal. Why not go out with your camera and capture some of the beauty that is present? There are a few things you might want to consider when you are picking a photo opportunity for the springtime. 

Weather

The weather in the spring can always be unpredictable. If you don’t like the weather just wait 5 minutes. You can find that most local news stations can have a pretty accurate three day weather forecast. Before you go out check to see what is on the horizon.

Location

Go out and scout for great locations. Springtime offers so many colors and you can find a local orchard to take photos at or even a botanical garden. The blossoms of a cherry tree and the blooms of the tulips are great to capture in the spring.

Props

If the weather is wet on the day of the shoot always look for the bright side of things. No, really look at the bright side because that is where you will find the gorgeous rainbows. Whether you are taking pictures of landscapes or pictures of people or both, you can always bring an umbrella and galoshes to add to the feeling of spring. 

Lighting

During the springtime you are getting more daytime and longer periods of light. With the increase of cloudy days you can also get some amazing sunrises and sunset photographs. Some of the most dynamic photos also have dynamic color. 

Be Flexible

When you are going out on a nice spring hike bring along your camera, so when the random chance photograph happens you are prepared to capture that memory. When you are prepared for these chance opportunities you will be surprised at what you find to take a photo of.
