Valentine's Day Mini Session Ideas

In search of Valentine's Day mini session ideas? We've put together ideas, using some of our most popular Valentine's Day photography backdrops. If you're not offering Valentine's Day mini sessions, there are many reasons why you should!

Mini sessions are a win-win for you and your clients. You’ll be able to generate profits by scheduling several back-to-back sessions in one day.  Mini sessions are  a great way to get a lot of clients in the door during your slow season. You’ll also have the chance to expand your portfolio. Your clients will enjoy getting quality photographs, at prices well below what they would normally pay. 

If you're offering two Valentine's Day photo backdrop options, offer them on different days. This will minimize the set up time and save you space. Remember, mini sessions are not your typical portraits sessions. They are "mini" portrait sessions. This means a shorter session (15 - 20 minutes), one outfit and 15 - 30 images to choose from. Be sure to let clients know what is included in the package upfront. The length of the session, outfit changes, backdrop options, how many images are included, etc. How many children can be in each session? Will there be an extra charge for additional children? How much is each additional photo? Make sure that you do not give away a full portrait session at a mini session price. 

Don't over shoot but be sure to create a variety of different images. Include full-length to close-up, and different angles (of each child). You'll be able to sell more images. Offer a limited amount of images in the package. Charge $25 (for example) for each additional image so that you can up-sell. If you shoot a large variety of images, parents will not want to leave any images behind. If the images are too similar, they'll only choose the one they like the most. 

Don't forget to market your Valentine's Day mini sessions in advance. Advertise them on social media, your blog and send out a newsletter.
