Cake Smash Flooring - What Should I Use?
We often get asked "what should I use for a floor for a cake smash session?" Vinyl is very popular for cake smashes because the material can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. You do have to be careful though, the oils and dye in the frosting can stain the backdrop, especially if it's a lighter color backdrop. Canvas and poly paper cannot be wiped clean, so customers often think those materials are not an option as a photo backdrop floor. So what material can you use?
To prevent the floor from getting damaged, we recommend using any backdrop material of your choice and putting a clear acrylic sheet over it. It can be found at most hardware stores and will protect the floor from staining or getting wet.
Acrylic makes these messy sessions a lot easier. When the cake smash fun it over, simply wipe up the frosting with a baby wipe or a damp cloth with soap. You'll never have to worry about your photo backdrop floor getting ruined again!
HSD Backdrops offer a large variety of backdrop floors and cake smash photo backdrops. Check out our large selection of designs here.
There is non-glare acrylic. A disposable option would be a large paper roll, which can be tossed after each session. Some craft stores or teacher supply stores offer large rolls of paper.
Will the acrylic sheet reflect surrounding objects and light? Also, is there a disposable option for the floor?
Yes, they are the same thing :) To my understanding, acrylic is the name of the material and plexiglass is a brand name, but they are the same thing.
Clear acrylic sheet? Are you speaking of plexiglass or is there something else other than a lightweight plastic that would wrinkle?
